These are a lot of good tips.

I've been uploading files to - unlimited free storage. Just in case you want another option.

Re: What Is Your Backup Plan?

That might be the most elaborate backup plan I have heard of in a while! I think the hardest thing about making a backup plan is sticking with it. It is really easy to forget to do backups, which is why most people would probably be better off using software that automatically does the backup for them. My company, Memeo, has a product called Memeo AutoBackup which solves this problem by instantaneously backing up files without any prompting. So the moment you save/modify/add a file it is backed up to any destination you like, whether that is an external hard drive, USB drive, iPod, FTP site, Network drive, etc. And just in case your computer and your back up drive are stolen or broken, Memeo has a secure off-site backup option. You can check us out at www.memeo.com.

Re: What Is Your Backup Plan?

Thanks, Arthur. That brings up an excellent point. The upfront costs are much more desirable than after the fact.

Re: What Is Your Backup Plan?

awesome post. i can attest to the unpleasantness of losing data and it'll cost you a lot more to get it back (if it's even possible) than it will to implement a simple backup plan.
